    A walk in the woods

    Bluebell wood and Bubbles' backside

Our Bungalow is only a stone's-throw away from a very large woodland, so obviously there is plenty of wildlife around here. The woods can be so scenic during the Spring and Summer, but they are a bit depressing looking during the Winter if there is no mist or snow. I do love the Bluebells though, they are such a beautiful shade of purple.

Our dog, Bubbles, used to like going for walks in the woods with Chris, and she liked to get in on the act when Chris took the camera with him, she'd park her @ss in the middle of the picture. She was quite strange really though; when she was in the woods, she would never go to toilet on the footpaths, she always went to the side of them, it was like she knew that people didn't want to walk in it.

    Kites - Birds of prey

    Kites hovering over our garden

There aren't that many places in the UK, that have these wonderful wild birds of prey, now. They have a wingspan of around 4 feet and we have them flying over our garden all of the time. They kind of hover in the air, a bit like Vultures, making their phseew phseew calling, it sounds kind of haunting and eerie, but we always know when they are about. I reckon it's because of these birds, that we don't have many cats in Stokenchurch; what a great concept, the birds eating the cats, instead of the other way around.

People come from far and near just to have a look at these wonderful birds. One day, there were people down our road looking for the Kites, they didn't have to wait long before a flock of 23 of them showed up. These people had come all the way from Scotland and were on the way to visit relatives in Dorset, but they had read, upon the internet, that Kites were at large here, so they had to do a detour to come and see the Kites for themselves, they certainly weren't disappointed.
Ah, Stokenchurch, fame at last, and the old bird they wanted to see wasn't even me!
