Cmbridge station by sourbugger Due to the inherent snobbery of Cambridge University the railway station is a good country mile from the center of town. There is nothing wrong with the walk, as there is a complete absence of hills, but the very regular bus service may be a good option. Regular trains to London, Stansted airport, Norwich and the Midlands via Peterborough. P.S Another completly useless fact for you : I seem to remeber that Cambridge Station has an entry in the Guiness book of records for the longest plaform in the UK. Oh dear, I better had go and get my bobble hat after saying that. Leave a Comment

City Sightseeing bus, Cambridge by jrs1234 One of the ways to see Cambridge is from an open-topped double-decker bus - such as the one in the picture. They run all year round, and are a good way to see the sights, especially if your time is limited or you want a quick introduction to the layout of the city. Also, if you're interested in the American Military Cemetery at Madingley (which is a mile or so outside the city limits), these buses are a good bet as this is on their route. The company running these tours is called City Sightseeing. It's a slightly pricey £8 for an all-day hop-on hop-off ticket. Leave a Comment

Pound Hill by Sophie1980 A street called 'Pound Hill' which is 2 streets away from the Folk Museum and Kettle's Yard, offers cheaper parking than you will find at one of the car parks. It's 20p for 20 minutes which is 60p an hour. VERY REASONABLE. It's a pay and display system and whilst there are only 30 spaces, there's always a spot whenever I've parked there, even this week (in summer when it was very busy). LOCATION: You'd have to know Cambridge a bit to find it. Off Castle Hill or Mount Pleasant. There's a pub in the street and it backs onto one of the colleges. Turn left out of Pound Hill by the pub, walk up to the traffic lights (2 minutes walk) and there will be a cross road. To your left if the Cambridge Folk Museum and Kettle's Yard (art); walk straight ahead you'll come to the river on your right and a huge park and swimming pool within the park (Jesus Green); walk right down Castle Hill and you'll hit the centre of Cambridge and Bridge Street with all the shops and punting. Very centrally located and cheap!! Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

From London to Cambridge by national rail: 1. Don't forget to aks for group tickets- 3 or 4 people for 2 tickets if you are travelling in a group of 3-4 persons. It will save you 16.5- 33 pounds which will be used to have a good lunch. 2. start and end your trip from the King's cross station, not the liverpool street station. It will save your time. 3. on the train back, some freshments will be sold, but the cappuccino is no good I have to say. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

by AcornMan Although Cambridge is compact enough that visitors can get around fairly easily on foot, the most convenient way to see the city is by renting a bicycle. It seems like there are two bicycles for every person in England, and Cambridge is no exception. Finding a rental is easy and reasonably priced and makes it much easier to get around. The best part is that, unlike in the U.S., it's perfectly acceptable to ride an old piece-of-junk bicycle with a basket on the front in Cambridge. In fact, you'll fit right in! by BerniShand Cambridge is a great city to walk around, the colleges are very close together so you see lots in a relatively short distance, and there are wonderful winding side streets to explore. look up above the shop fronts to see the clues to the ages of the buildings, there is a wealth of architecture here some dating from medieval times, and when you get tired there are plenty of cafes, bars and old inns to rest in Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by cielo85 i hired a bike, because i had to stay there for 4 weeks, and my friends said it seemed to be really fun ,but i found out it's really terrible, cuz it's really tiring, and i always didn't know the right traffic rules, but u do need it if u like to go out,cuz the bus never came on time, and if u like to go out at night, cuz there's usually no bus after 11 at night, and on sunday, there's fewer bus,and it's also fun to ride a bike in the english countryside, really lovely*S* Leave a Comment Theme: Bicycle

A city bus by Sophie1980 Buses are numerous and mostly reliable in the city centre, and surrounding Cambridgeshire villages. Prices have got up quite substantially in the last few years, but if you're planning on riding the bus, get a Day Rider. It costs 3 GBP and you can use it all day. Or you can get a week pass for 8 GBP. You can buy these from the bus driver. The main bus station is Drummer Street Bus Station. From here you can get buses to the villages, Ely and places such as Newmarket, Oxford, Bath and Milton Keynes. The National Express also runs next to the station, with the ticket office opposite. They run buses to Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead airports, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, just to name a few. National Express prices are very reasonable, especially if you book in advance (it's like Greyhound) or have a student/senior citizen discount. Beware though - if you're planning on going to the airport, make sure you book your ticket early, because whenever I've travelled, it's been very busy, no matter what time of day. Exit out of Drummer St. and you'll enter Emmanuel Street. Here you'll find the Citi buses running around the city centre, and to the train station. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus
