Photo taken in the courtyard looking back under the archway to the main gate.
Fondest memory: I suppose looking at these photos now and the time we spent here in Lyme Park my fondest memories are of our lovely dog Ted who died in May 2004. He enjoyed anywhere he could have a good romp.
Favorite thing: Lyme Park has deer and sheep and therefore in some places there are stiles to cross. I had never actually seen one as high as this before though!! It must have been about 8-10ft high!!!! There was a gate next to it but it was locked. Problem here was how were we going to get out dog Ted up this ladder? In the end with a bit of coaxing (did I say bit, I meant a lot - hahaha) he managed to squeeze underneath the gate!
The Cage is a former hunting lodge where the gentry would watch the stag hunting!
It is open, but only on certain weekends in the month. Its better to check before you go.
The views from here over the Cheshire Plain or towards the Peak District are beautiful.
By the Mill Pond is the Old Workshop, which has a cafe, shop and is open March until October, but during the winter months only at the weekends.
There is also a licensed restaurant and shop in the Hall.
The Servants Hall in the Main Hall can also be hired for functions.
Favorite thing: A view from the cage looking out over the dam onto the hills of the Peak District. As you can see there is some snow on top of the hills, not enough to ski though! :-)
Favorite thing: I love trees and flowers so just wanted to show you this photo of these trees, even though it is winter time and no leaves are on it, it still looks wonderful.
