Blakemere Craft Centre: Crafty Shopping
At this craft centre there are somer 30 shops, set around charming Edwardian stables. Huge selection of unusual items from soft furnishings to ladies fashions and handmade chocolates ( I especailly love these!) to fine art and prints. Numerous craft shops where you can watch the artisans at work. Plus a garden centre which offers an extensive range of plants, trees and shrubs and an Aquatic and Falconry Centre with bird of prey flying displays and fantastic avaries.The land on which Blakemere Craft Centre stands was originally owned by Lord Barrymore of Marbury, some time in the 18th century. Blakemere Hall, now demolished, was built in 1878 for a rich Cheshire gentleman called Barclay Pagett. The stables, which still survive, now housing the craft shops, were built in 1890 and were simply designed to accommodate coach and riding horses. the chocolates are really special. They also...
