  • Mad Hatter's Tea Party Sculpture

    An eight ton granite sculpture of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The sculpture is by Edwin Russell and is located in Golden Square in downtown Warrington.

  • IRA Bombing Memorial at Golden Square

    This memorial looks like chess pieces and was created to honour the memory of two young children who were killed by an IRA bomb. 56 other people were injured when bombs were detonated in Bridge Street on 20 March 1993.

    Research the history of Warrington then go and take a look for the cannon ball marks on the back of St elphins Church. (Did you know ut's the second tallest chutch spire in England!) Just think Cromwell and his troops did battle at the place you stand!It is also the scene of much of Warringtons early history.

    The Town Hall was built in 1750, and looks very majestic when viewed through the elaborate golden gates, reputably build for Buckingham Palace, whose occupant (Queen Victoria) rejected them. Never mind, her loss was Warrington's gain!

    Jenerics has been in Warrington for years. OK its more of a get 'em in and get 'em out kind of place as opposed to a romantic meal for two but it is worth a visit as the food is fabulous!There are many choices at this buffet restaurant and the food is always hot and being constantly replenished. The place is spotlesssly clean.Family friendly too...

    fab Turkish restaurant based in Lymm about 6 miles from Warrington town centre.Excellent menu, nice decor and fantastically helpful and friendly staff.good for both couples and groups and is also child friendly. Mixed meat platter - but be warned lots of food on there for two!

    nothing too much trouble for the staff here - and always happy to recommend dishes. Not the most fancy of places so perhaps not for a romantic soiree but great for groups of friends as you never feel rushed. love the Tandori chicken tikka with a side of korma sauce!

    EDIT:No longer of the Irish flavour and no more good Ale.This is not an Irish Theme pub. It is a pub run by an Irish man and frequented by the warrington locals. Each Friday and Saturday there is a live Irish band on.It's a good night. No dress requirements as long as you are dressed.

    If you like go karting we Warrington has a large indoor karting track. I don't think the ckarts get up too the speed of some of the out door tracks but thay are plenty fast enough. You can either turn up an play or organise an event.

    Check with them for details.

    Equipment: Long sleaved Top and no shorts or sandles.
