  • IRA Bombing Memorial at Golden Square

This memorial looks like chess pieces and was created to honour the memory of two young children who were killed by an IRA bomb. 56 other people were injured when bombs were detonated in Bridge Street on 20 March 1993.

  • History

Research the history of Warrington then go and take a look for the cannon ball marks on the back of St elphins Church. (Did you know ut's the second tallest chutch spire in England!) Just think Cromwell and his troops did battle at the place you stand! It is also the scene of much of Warringtons early history.

  • Warrington Wolves

Never visit Warrington without going to watch the Wolves playing Rugby! It will probably be the most memorable part of your visit.

  • Town Hall and the Golden Gates

The Town Hall was built in 1750, and looks very majestic when viewed through the elaborate golden gates, reputably build for Buckingham Palace, whose occupant (Queen Victoria) rejected them. Never mind, her loss was Warrington's gain!

  • Memorial

Two teenage boys were killed in 1993 when the IRA detonated a bomb which had been placed in a waste paper bin in the town centre. This memorial known as the river of life has been created to the memory of these boys.

  • The Golden Gates

Warrington is certainly a mix of old and new Built on an industrial base, it was a wealthy town during the early part of the industrial revolution . It was a centre for wire manufacture. The Golden Gates are sited at the entrance to the Town Hall

  • Golden Gates

Now outside Warrington Town hall, these gates were designed to be outside Buckingham Palace, but apparently Queen Victoria didn't want them.Well London's loss was Warrington's gain (and have you seen the boring gates now outside Buckingham Palace?
