The Falcon Hotel was originally established in 1798 as a boarding house, providing lodging for captains of visiting vessels. A coaching service begain in 1826, it stopped at the Falcon three times a week and brought many visitors including Alfred Lord Tennyson who visited in May 1848. The Falcon today is a great building which commands an excellent position overlooking the Canal Basin. Various types of accomodation are provided here but during our visit, we called in for something to eat. We chose to sit outside in the beer garden. The eating areas inside and out of the hotel are roomy and spacious. I ordered the home cooked fishcakes which were delicious. I can also recommend the pork loin which was really tender and was served with a delicious gravy. The service here was second to none, the staff worked very hard indeed. I would love to eat here again and would recommend it to others.
Favorite Dish: The fish cakes were really tasty.

We called in here for lunch on the last day of our holiday in Cornwall. About 2-3 miles away from Bude, it sits up on top of a hill overlooking the Southern End of Widemouth Bay. The bar and dining area of the hotel are really nicely decorated with nice views of the surrounding countryside from the rear and beautiful coastal views from the outdoor seating. The staff here were really pleasant and friendly. I ordered the seafood salad which was really nice, the King Prawns were the nicest I've tasted. The Gammon & chips also looked very nice. I imagine the restaurant gets very busy during peak periods so it is advisable to book a table at these times. Accomodation is also available here & you can book yourself a spa treatment. (see website below for details).

The Bay view Inn is situated in a great position overlooking Widemouth Bay. There is a well equipped Childrens play area complete with bouncy Castle in the garden. The seating outside the front of the Bay view Inn provides fabulous seaviews over Widemouth bay. We called in here on a Sunday lunchtime and were very fortunate there was a table available in the bar. I had the Sunday Roast which was delicious - the beef was tender and the vegetables fresh and tasty. After eating there, I could see why it was so busy - booking is advisable.
There is Wifi available throughout the bar and restaurant and accomodation is available here. (See website below for details).
I had a really nice meal here and would definitely like to return in the future and would recommend it to others.
Favorite Dish: Great surroundings and lovely food.
