It was a little rainy during our visit to Mevagissey, the Harbour Tavern looked really warm and inviting so we decided to call in for brunch. Situated right on the waterside, we had a great view of the harbour while deciding what to eat. We opted for a small English breakfast. The service was really good and the breakfast was delicious.
Surrounded by murals of Mevagissey harbour and the mystic association between Cornwall and King Arthur, diners will enjoy meals such as, Baked chicken breast, Beef stroganoff and rice or even Avocado and King prawn salad. With fish dishes being the restaurants main characteristics, grilled sea bass in rich chili sauce and fillet of cod topped with salsa are just some of the examples taken from their extensive fish list. All dishes are imaginative, fresh and locally caught; making the Old Bark-house a prime seafood restaurant of Mevagissey.
The atmosphere is relaxed, but with efficient waitress service, the Old Bark-house is a place to enjoy finely cooked local food.
Sadly it seems it is up for sale.
Latest is! its now Seagull Tearooms.
Maybe someone in or visiting Mevagissey could confirm it?.
Favorite Dish: Steak and Chips
This inn was recommended to us by a local man as we were heading back to our B&B to freshen up before heading out for dinner. We asked him where we could get the best Fish & Chips in town.
He wasn't wrong...it was splendid...and at a very reasonable price.
This place is nice and relaxing after a hard days seeing the sights of Cornwall.
Favorite Dish: We had the whitebait and calamari to start followed by the chefs special of the day, which was of course fresh fish.
