A town which has inspired many artists and writers, including Daphne du Maurier, best remembered perhaps for her 'Rebecca', 'Jamaica Inn' and 'Frenchman's Creek'. Enjoy a leisurely "Du Maurier's Fowey" or "Historical Fowey" walk with morning coffee/cream tea overlooking the harbour in one of the leading hotels or exclusive clubs. Optionally combine this with a boat trip around the harbour and up the river which inspired "The Wind in the Willows".
What to buy: Anything from soveniers to paintings
What to pay: Normal Prices
Mevagissey is full of quaint shops, some quite old and others more modern. But you won't find any large retail outlets here.
What to buy: Do watch what you buy, or rather how much you pay. I bought some postcards (for VT Members) in one shop, which were 10 pence each, or 10 for 75 pence. The same cards in another shop were 15 pence each!
