September – Fish Festival
The Newquay Fish Festival gives the town an opportunity to showcase the harbour, now in its 9th year (2011) took place on September 9-11. The festival is a unique mix of Newquay's vibrant holiday scene and the traditional fishing community of the old Cornish harbour. This year there was the usual practical cookery demonstrations by local chefs along with the beach festivities that include sand castle competitions, Punch & Judy, Rock Pool shows and organised games and events.
Annually, the event takes place in September as a follow on to the main holiday period
Friday: 11:00 am to 11:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am to 11:00 pm
Sunday: 11:00 am to 6:30 pm
If there is one thing Cornwall is famous for, it is Cornish Pasties and Newquay is no exception. There is no shortage of places to get them from supermarkets to traditional Pasty shops and they are located all over Newquay.
You can buy all kinds of flavours from the Traditional to the unusual like the Full English Breakfast Pasty.
No trip to Cornwall should be without sampling a Pasty.
