Rose and Crown / Farmers Arms: Friendly locals
If you find yourself in Ulverston, Cumbria, make your trip happier by throwing away any expectations of wild, late night clubbing right out of the window. It's just not an option. Settle, instead for an evening (or even an all day session) in the town centre pubs. Most locals are friendly and sociable, most nights are lively, (Wednesdays particularly, which is live music night in many of the pubs). The food in the Farmers is good, especially the seafood. In winter, when there isn't much else to do, get round the fire in Sid's Room in the Rose and Crown. In the summer almost all the town centre pubs have a beer garden.Chat to the locals - it's an isolated place to live, so anything or anyone a bit different goes down well. In Ulverston pubs, generally speaking, dress however you like. No one really notices or cares.
