If you want to treat yourself to a corden-bleu meal whilst in the lakes, book a table at The Rampsbeck country house hotel. This restaurant holds a well deserved 3 michelin stars! Book well in advance as it is very popular even though quite expensive.
Arrive early so you have chance to stroll in the gardens and take in the wonderfull views and afterwards relax in the comfy loung while you have your coffee.
Just one thing there is a smart dress code, so dont go trapsing in wearing your berghaus and muddy brashers!!
Favorite Dish: The whole ambience and pace of the serving , makes a meal here an enjoyable experience even before your tastebuds are tantalised with the yummy food on offer.

The Cafe at Aira Force has a range of Ice Creams and sandwiches. I had a baguette on a plate with some tuna and salad which was nice and refereshing after the walk around the waterfalls. There is a good choice of Ice Creams in tubs which is local produce. I tried a strawberry and a chocolate one. There was also bottles of apple juice - one with apple and cinnamon. I didn't go inside but sat at a bench outside and it was lovely.

We went for an traditional English Classic Afternoon Tea to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday.
Choice of tea for each guest, toasted tea cake, toasted English crumpet followed by as big a choice of afternoon cakes - as many as you could eat.
What makes it so special? Well, it's location - practically sitting in Ullswater and it's decadence.
Gents wear suits and ladies comfortable smart clothes. Don't dress down too far!!!
Cost for our large party was GBP15 per head.
