Well Dressing

by stevezero

In pagan times, ancient Britons worshipped water gods, by sacrifice and decorating wells. In recent times this has been revised as a Christian ceromony, thankfully without the loss of blood. The dressings are huge boards of wood, covered in clay and then decorated with natural materials such as berries, flower petals, wood, bark, moss, etc..This ancient tradition can been seen throughout the county between May and September.Various towns and villages, advertised locally.
