Matlock sits at the end of the a branch line from Derby.
Journey time from Derby is a little more than half an hour with services running approximately every hour on weekdays and two-hourly on Sundays.
A single journey costs £5.50, whilst a return ticket is a bargain at just £5.60 (accurate at July 2012).
We drove to Matlock Bath and I do think that this is the best way to get here nowadays. It is out fot he way and you need your own wheels.
Over a hundred years ago it was a different story though, the railway opened Matlock Bath uo to the world, and in the 1840s, when the railway first came to Matlock Bath, with it came many people, and money, which meant growth and infrastructure and jobs.
Priot to this, a more elite and wealthier type used to frequent Matlock Bath, and now with the railway, it opened the doors to the middle class.
It is a typically picturesque station, one of many delights Matlock Bath offers :)
