The Royal Castle: The Royal Castle

    by freya_heaven Written Jul 12, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The atmosphere & the food here are great. When I lived across the river at Kingswear, I visited the downstairs public bar quite often, its quite a lively & busy place.

They have a formal restaurant upstairs, with great views over the waterfront. My sister held her 18th birthday dinner here in the restaurant, we had a great evening, well recommended.

    Alfrescos: Alfresco

Alfresco's is a wonderful place for a breakfast or lunch snack. They mainly specialise in filled bagettes which are wonderful, all in a great atmosphere, when I went a couple of weeks ago they had 2 flamenco guitarists playing, This is no ordinary Bagette cafe!

Alfresco's is licenced, with tables both inside & out in their gorgeous little courtyard. They are usually closed by 3pm at the latest.

In the summer they also weekend evenings

The Drum Inn: The Inn at Cockington

by MarvintheMartian Written Dec 28, 2003

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The village also has its own Inn situated across the road from the car park. It has fine views, friendly staff, log fires in winter and great food. There is outside seating and a varied menu to suit all tastes. It also welcomes families and children can play safely in the gardens. The Drum Inn, completed in 1936, also has a thatched roof in keeping with the rest of the area - this was replaced quite recently when the pub was refurbished during 2003.
