Town Centre Bus Stop

Whilst the town is small enough to be easily walkable to get out and about in the local area there's an excellent bus service, mostly provided by Stagecoach buses. The #2 runs between Exeter and Newton Abbot (pretty much following the same route as the railway) whilst the #32 is the local run-around. Bus stops are well signposted with routes and timetables clearly displayed. There's a variety of ticket options including local dayriders and area explorers which give you unlimited travel.

Teignmouth Railway Station
1 more image

Teignmouth is on the main railway line between London Paddington and Penzance and whilst not all high-speed services stop here there are regular trains in both directions with Exeter being about 20 minutes journey time and Plymouth 45.

The station is located on the northern edge of the town centre and is about 5 minutes walk from the seafront. As well as mainline services there are also branch line trains to Paignton and Torbay, to the south and to Exmouth, via Exeter, heading eastwards.

The journey between Exeter and here is one of Britain's most spectacular, following the red-cliffed coastline and the Exe estuary, and on a stormy day at high tide the waves crecend against the carriage windows.

For exploring the area by train the Devon Day Ranger at £10 is excellent value for money (and even better value at £6.60 if you hold a railcard). Great if you fancy a pub crawl!
