Another example of Torquay’s capriciousness is the range of shops here. There are some very upmarket stores such as Hoopers, overlooking the harbour, which offers serious designer goods at appropriately serious prices whilst just round the corner the budget chains such as Primark and T-Max do things for a tenth of the price (or less).
Most of the major chains are represented, as are service companies such as banks and insurers, but you don't have to look far afield for all sorts of small, local, independent specialist outlets such as those in the Pavilion.
This isn't a criticism at all - I like shopping in Torquay and heartily recommend the town centre for the variety and comprehensiveness of the offerings and generally everyone is helpful and friendly.
Fleetwalk in the main town center is great for all your shopping needs, its great in bad weather as well as its all under one roof, lots of different shops selling unusual things and the normal clothes shops as well.
Behind Cockington Court next to the Rose Garden is a selection of craft shops, this one is the pottery with work by Ann Saward.
She has made some very unusual and beautiful items here, every peice is a signed original. If you are looking for a special reminder of Cockington have a look here.
There are also a glass and wood workers studios here too.
