On the whole the beaches of Torbay are very safe but it always pays to know the state of the tide, particularly if you intend walking around and below headlands.
Visitors, particularly youngsters, frequently get cut off by an incoming tide and need to be rescued.
There are signs, such as this one at Livermead Head, that warn of the dangers, but people still get caught out.
The toilets at cockington are situated in the main car park but make sure you have a spare 20 pence piece on you as you have to pay for a wee.Mind you i'd pay anything if i was bursting.Also car parking costs ?2.oo for up to four hours and ?4.oo for over four hours.
Over the past decade a certain "element" has been attracted to and moved in to the town, and drugs are very easy to get hold of & theft has very much risen.
