Bournemouth Airport (BOH) previously known as Hurn Airport is an airport located 4.0 miles north-northeast of Bournemouth town. Although I have never had to use the airport in my stay in Bournemouth but few of the budget airlines uses this port to fly for Scotland or European countries like easyJet, Ryan Air, Thomson Airlines
There is a shuttle service costing 4 GBP to carry passenger from Bournmouth town center to the Airport. The journey takes about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic condition.

Bournemouth airport is very small, and there aren't a great deal of flights originating from the site, but this can have it's advantages. Every time I have used the airport, I have been through it in virtually no time at all. None of the waiting around for hours on end for your luggage lark, like you get at Gatwick or Heathrow.
The airport also has a decent diner, and a bar.
Bournemouth International Airport is mostly served by the reputable no thrills airline- Ryanair.

Yellow buses are a good way of getting around Bournemouth.
In summer, open top buses do tours of the town and sea front giving excellent panoramic views - so take your camera.

You can get to Bournemouth pretty much every way known to man.
We have an airport that now flies to the majority of Europe.Trains from London only take about 90 minutes. The roads going into Bournemouth are good, if not busy on bank holiday weekends, Ferries dock in nearby Poole and you can even walk if you are crazy enough!!

Bournemouth Railway Station is about a 15 minute walk north of the town centre. This is on the main South West Trains route between London (Waterloo) and Poole/Weymouth with trains running both ways roughly every half hour during the day. It is also the terminus for Cross Country services to and from Manchester Piccadily which have a roughly hourly day-time frequency.
Just outside the station is the bus interchange with regular buses into the town centre and the surrounding area. Also there are usually plenty of taxis available on the rank for those with luggage.
This is quite a small station but with all the basic facilities required and the manned service counter is especially helpful with looking for good deals for you if booking advance tickets - there was one occasion where they actually found a cheaper ticket for me than I could have gotten via the internet!
Contacts are those for National Rail.

Getting around Bournemouth and the surrounding areas by bus is both cheap and simple. There are two competing bus companies - the yellow Transdev (1st website) and the red or blue Wilts and Dorset (2nd website). Because the companies actually compete on the some of the main routes then this keeps fares down and both offer value for money day tickets.
The two main sets of bus stops in town are around The Triangle, just off Commercial Road and in the centre at Gervis Place, next to the Tourist Info Centre. There's also a Travel Interchange at the Railway Station.

There are a total of about 7 miles of uninterupted beaches between Southbourne, to the east, and Sandbanks, to the west of Bournemouth's seafront. Whilst these are emininently walkable, either along the promenade or the beaches themselves, there's also a useful little land train which runs along the central sections between Boscombe and Alum Chine. This is good for the foot weary and especially useful for those with mobility problems, who can ride for free.
