Coming to Corfe by car
As we were staying in Corfe Castle we could park our car by our B&B, but for those of you visiting from further afield, be warned that there is very limited parking in the centre of the village itself. There are however several other good options.
Firstly, you’ll see parking for the castle signposted from the A351 just north of the village, from where it is about 800 metres walk uphill to the castle and village beyond. But if you’re planning to visit the village as well as the castle, I think the car park in West Street would be a better option. To reach this, ignore these first parking signs, and instead turn right off the A351 into the village square just after passing the castle, and left by the war memorial.
Another alternative, which I imagine would be particularly popular with kids, is to use the Norden park & ride facility signposted from the A351 a little south of Wareham (£2.00 all day), from where a steam train puffs regularly into Corfe Castle Station. Incidentally, the same train will take you all the way to Swanage if you so wish. See the website below for more information on this option.
steam train through the beautiful isle of purbeck. after the line was closed for several years it now is open again and runs daily. very beautiful is to take the steam railway and enjoy the beautiful landscape from while travelling from swanage to wareham.
