Dorset Restaurants

  • Great Evening

From the moment we entered and were given a friendly welcome by Paul and Pat the hosts at the Cock and Bottle, until leaving we could not fault this pub. This is a pub you should not miss when in the Wareham area.Set in the small village of Morden just off the A35 main road. We had the scallops as a starter which we all agreed were the best we had...

  • Nice lunch

Four of use visited here for lunch and all agreed that we would return again. We choose to eat in the conservatory restaurant which was nice and warm, you can also eat in the bar restaurant. A good menu with a nice choice with meat, fish, platters and vegetarian dishes. Our food was hot, tasty and nicely cooked.

  • Nice village setting.

Warm welcome upon arrival, nice food and service made this a good place to meet friends for lunch. It was nice to spend time in the lounge to have coffee after lunch. The Poachers is situated in a peaceful village close to Dorchester. The smoked fresh haddock served over creamy herb mash with poached egg and finished with a Cheddar cheese sauce.Home...

  • Great Views.

Although this is a golf club the clubhouse has now been opened for everyone.Excellent menu at a reasonable price with fantastic views across to Poole harbour and Poole. The winter menu consists of such things as Beef steak and mushroom suet pudding with Guinness gravy & hand-cut chips,Cumberland sausage with creamed potato and onion gravy,Wiltshire...

  • Good Dorset Pub

A good thatched and flint built pub with a log fire and a cosy atmosphere, together with a warm welcome.Nice food with a good selection of real ales. You have a choice of food, either from the specials board with such things as local pigeon, duck and fresh fish or from the usual menu.Deserts are home made. Dorset lamb with fresh vegetables followed...

  • Nice place for lunch.

Stopped here for lunch after a walk around Portland Bill.We found a varied menu which included sandwiches, home cooked dishes with fresh fish, steaks, chicken, duck and curry. On Sundays they put on a Carvery.Good service together with nice food and a good selection of beers made this a pleasant pit stop.

  • Great meals

Harbour Lights in on the 1st floor next to the I-Max cinema. You can take a lift, but I prefure the stairs as it's so slow.Harbour Lights is a bit like the Harvester resturants. There's a seperate bar for drinks & another for odering food, there's also an outside area with metal tables & chairs which overlooking the seafront. It's wise to get there...

  • Colonial Tea House

This restaurant / tea house is a wonderful old colonial style building in a beautiful setting, with terraces out the front & a lovely dark interior. Freya & I stopped off here for a drink & a flapjack after we had walked around the Sub Tropical Gardens. You can have a meal or just have a drink, we were there not long before closing so not a lot was...

  • The bakery

This little cafe is essentially a bakery, with a few tables in the conservatory. Its ok for a quick bite to eat, I had jacket potato with beans & coleslaw which was nice, but from memory that seemed to be the only vegetarian dish they had on offer. It seemed a popular place for peple buying cakes, bread & rolls to take out.

  • Road Stop

We stopped at this Little Chef at Winderbourne Abbas which is a couple of miles west of Dorchester. This restaurant chain is dotted all over the UK. Not known for its culinary achievements but an ideal pit stop.I would however recommend the French red onion tart, its gorgeous!! Prices are average, £6-8.00 for a main course. It is not unusual to see...

  • Cheap Eats

After failing to find an Italian restaurant we settled on the Kings Arms, on the Dorchester High Street. This 300 year old coach house, was full of architectural atmosphere, if a little rough around the edges. As well as the specials board you can order 2 meals for 10.00 pounds which we ended up doing. I had a Spinach Fritiata with a strong tomato...

  • All you can eat buffet!

This only opened last year but is already very popular with locals. The dishes change so you can't guarantee that what you liked one time will be there the next. Dishes from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, India...... Extremely friendly people there, excellent food, great value for money. Currently £11.95 per person

  • Dance floor in a cafe

on Bournemouth pier is a cafe called The Beachcomber. It's near the end by some merry-go round's, it's also attached to a bar.The window's overlook the pier walk & the sea. There's benche's outside which is a bit windy in rough weather, below you can see fishermen hoping to bag their lunch or what ever it is their trying to catch! This cafe is used...

  • International Spirit of Bournemouth

This place is rather small, but the staff are always friendly. You don't feel like a customer, but their mate morelike. Don't you just hate those place where the service is just so formal, and staff are nice to you, just because they have to be rather than that they really genuinely want to be that??? I love the nachos they do.... yummy!
