Sandbanks ferry is a chain ferry which crosses the entrance of Poole harbour in Dorset. The route connects Sandbanks with Studland and in doing so avoids a 25 mile journey by road.
The ferry runs from 7am until 11pm and the normal service departs every 20 mins from each terminal.
Tolls : Cars £3.50p,Pedestrians £1 (one way charge only, from Sandbanks side.)
We went to the ferry, to take us across to Studland.
It is a brief, 7 minute ferry journey, and it was a pity the weather wasnt playing along, as I am sure we missed out on a lot of lovely scenery.
We waited about 15 minutes for the ferry to arrive at our side, and all the cars drove on. It took many cars! It was about £3 per car, you pay double if you have a trailer!

You can catch a ferry to Studland and the crossing time is only about 5 minutes. It feels a bit like somebody did not want to put up a bridge across a river.
The ferry is very frequent, however, you might experience some queues. The crossing costs around 2,60 £.
