Car Boot Sale and Sunday Lunch
  • Tip Rating:
  • Pop up to the Sunday morning flea market/car boot sale, where you'll find all manner of strange and interesting articles for cheap. (The earlier, the better).

This is held in the car park at the back of Brighton Station. There are usually some familiar (for me anyway!) and friendly faces having a good old rummage there and a nice atmosphere.

Follow that with Sunday lunch at the Dorset Bar, Gardner St, in the North Lanes (link below). On a sunny day, you can sit outside and peoplewatch the colourful personalities stolling by.

If you don't fancy eating in a pub or restaurant, grab yourself some sandwiches from Marks & Spencer and sit in Chrchill Square or down on the beach and have a tasty but cheaper lunch. Marks & Spencer do a fantastic selection of sandwiches, rolls, wraps and other lunch specials.

    The best sandwiches!

    Great Beach ......for walking!
  • Tip Rating:
  • I spent alot of time walking the small lanes and walking on the beach in Brighton. I wish I would have taken more pictures! For the fairly long period of time that I've spent in Brighton I don't have very many pictures!! Brighton can be a fun town! It can also serve as a great base for exploring smaller towns and villages in the area.

    Hotels in Brighton
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is a general tip to ,ake you aware that during peak season hotels as well as B&B's only accept bookings for 2 nights over a weekend. We wanted to stay only the saturday night but found it virtually impossible. I contacted the Brighton tourism board & they gave us these 2 B&B's that offer 1 night stay only.

My personal advice would be to rather catch the last train from Brighton to Victoria which leaves at 10pm & you will still have time to tube it back home.

    Fishing Museum
  • Tip Rating:
  • I think, everyone knows, England is a country of museums. I like to go to there and it didnt take a long time till I found one. Not a big one but an interesing one. I was tired at that time, a musem like the British Museum would be too much for me at that time anyway....

  • Tip Rating:
  • ...go to the Pier. There are actually two piers at Brighton, but only one is in use at the moment and houses a funfair and arcade. It can be fun in the summer, but avoid it in the rain - it gets VERY slippery and half the rides aren't used because nobody else will be there in that weather either! Apart from me apparently :-) But all the same, a visit isnt complete without at least seeing it... I also adore the small streets full of cafes and shops (rain or shine lol!).

Shopping in Brighton is really good, especially for clothes, and in particular if you have a less conservative taste in clothes and shoes!

There is a Sealife acquarium on the sea front, which is very similar to the other Sealife centres, but I loved it when I was a kid. Im fairly sure that there is a discount if you're a memeber of the YHA, but I manage to forget about it each time i go...!

The general atmosphere is fab, especially in summer when all kinds of people are on the beach or seeing the Pavilion (another big attraction, but despite regular visits to the town, I havent managed to see it yet!).

This is not my FONDEST memory but my most vivid! My brother and I were stuck in Brighton in the pouring rain for 4 hours and got absolutely soaked - I think it was the wettest day they had had for months! Aside from that, I have a lot of fonder memories, especially as my aunt has lived in Brighton and Hove for the last few years.

    The BRIGHTON MUSEUM AND ART...
  • Tip Rating:
  • The BRIGHTON MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY in Church Street is open to the public again.

It's just round the corner from the Royal Pavilion. The painting collection is not particularly large, and the premises are shared with the town library, but this is still one of the most interesting provincial collections of Victorian paintings. The art nouveau collections are very good, and there is much art deco, a large collection of ceramics, and a changing exhibition of non-European art. There are also exhibits on the history and growth of the town. They show the view of both the public and the inhabitiants of Brighton about the city.

    Brighton & Hove
  • Tip Rating:
  • So just to be very clear here, Brighton is not all alone, it is actually two towns that joint together, Brighton & Hove, obviously I had to visit here to realise that, and so it is. Brighton & Hove.
