Priory Meadows and town center: The former cricket ground
I already mentioned a couple of times that Hastings is divided by West Hill in an old town and a "modern" town. The new town center, west of west hill, includes the shopping heart of the city. While many smaller shops are situated at Queen's road or the southern street, you will find a shopping center with larger shops and a couple of major chains at Priory Meadows. This is a modern shopping center built on the grounds of a former park which was mainly used as cricket ground. To remember the "good old days", a bronze figure of a cricket player can be seen in fornt of the shopping center.
There are several large supermarkets, one in Town, (Morrisons) and 2 on the outskirts, with another due to open later this year. They sell almost everything, from swimwear (in season) to tents, as well as the usual supermarket food, drink etc. They also have pharmacy depts. Apart from the one in the town centre the easiest to reach by public transport is Tesco which is located just past the Hollington area of town. Any 'bus market Hollington will take you there. They pulll in outside so you can't miss it.
What to buy: Seaside nick-nacks. Rock(a kind of candy) and anything to do with The Battle of Hastings.
Try The Tourist Information Office at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, the staff are usually quite helpful and I know one of them speaks Portuagese, although I don't know about others, but I should imagine that some of them speak French as we have a lot of French Exchange Students.
What to pay: Southern England is not particulaly cheap. Anywhere, but Hastings is not the most expensive.

Hastings Old Town
George Street and the surrounding area is full of different kinds of shops, watering holes, eateries
etc. but be careful, some of them are a little pricey - this is where the daytrippers land when they disembark from their coaches!
What to buy: In this part of town, there are all sorts, including tourist 'junk'.
What to pay: Too much here.

RX Fisheries: Fresh fish in Hastings
This is an amazing shop with a pleasant experience in shopping for fresh fish - helpful and lovely staff, gorgeous fresh fish and a fantastic range of varieties. Thoroughly recommend it, especially if you want to travel home with a taste of the sea - RX fisheries will store your purchase in their fridge while you look around the Old Town of hastings, and give free ice to travel home with.
What to buy: we bought seabass, mussels and salmon.

That is the shopping mall here, not that I came here for shopping and not that there is much to buy there anyway.
