The little station at Rye has trains to and from Ashford and Hastings. From Ashford you can catch a train to London and at Hastings you can go on to Brighton.

There is only one bus route operating from Hastings, via Icklesham to Rye. I stayed for couple of days in Icklesham which is a small long village.
The bus runs every hour, operated by StageCoach.
Single way ticket: BP 3.20
Return ticket: BP3.70
StageCoach is relatively more expensive the London local bus.

If you wish to Park in Rye, I would suggest to use the car park just behind the train station, called Rye cattle market, there is a day fee only of £1 (pay and display), and plenty of spaces !

Having been a regular visitor to Rye I have always wondered why so many cars displaying the blue disabled badges packed the road from the Land Gate through the High Street when there are so many car-parks.
The reason is that rip-off Britain is at its height in Rye and in fact in all car-parks operated by Rother District Council.
Although there are marked disabled bays in the car-parks, there is no concession for disabled drivers or cars containing registered disabled passengers.
All across the UK the blue badge allows disabled driver to park in mark spaces free... not in Rye or Camber.
