My adopted home town.
Leigh-on-Sea was my adopted home town when I lived in the UK. I really enjoyed living here. This was the one place east of London on the Thames coast (known locally as the 'Cockney Coast') that had any soul. I think it may have been because the town was not based around a mall, but rather a traditional high street. Importantly also, the town had a historical fishing port, where you can still buy cockels and scampi (when the fishery isn't closed!). Old Leigh is a nice place to stroll in the afternoon on the weekend and get fish'n'chips. I hope Leigh-on-Sea continues to prosper as a unique community in Essex without losing its character and I get to see it again.
