The Pier Hotel: As Classy As Harwich Gets!

by johngayton

This is definitely Harwich's prime position to sit and have lunch when the sun is shining and you can sit outside and enjoy it (both the sun and your lunch). It is slightly upscale but the food is good and whilst not the cheapest in town (nor necessarily the best) it is still well worth a visit purely for its location when the weather is right. The fish pie was a little OTT with clever fish and the accompanying side salad OTT with clever lettuce but then I suppose they had to be to justify the 12 quid that they were charging. Good tho' just not great.

The King's Arms: A Different Sort of Pub

However, I was glad to help and that was no big deal - it was the food that was disappointing. It was a Saturday lunchtime with intermittant...

Osborne Brothers.: Fresh Seafood on the "Cockney Coast"!

by worldkiwi

Osborne Bros is a bit of an institution in Leigh-on-Sea. You can buy all sorts of seafood delicacies and enjoy them with a cold beer or a hot cup of tea! Try the delicious scampi, cockles in vinegar, or if you feel really adventurous - jellied eels. I quite like a bit of smoked fish!
