How the British Pub works
The traditional pubs are those where you have to go the bar, stand looking like you're waited to be served and then place your order. Once all of your drinks have been poured you pay the bill and then take your drinks to your seat at a table or some other standing place. If the bar is crowded it's not a good idea to stand and drink at the bar because all of the customers will be trying to get served and you will be in the way.Also you can ask for a tray to carry your drinks to your table. We do not usually tip the barman/woman.There are also sometimes two sides to the Pub - the Lounge Bar tends to be plusher, nicer surroundings and less likely to have TVs, and other background noise. The drinks are slightly more expensive in this side of the Pub.The Public Bar is more 'spit and sawdust' - though they don't do that anymore.
