Breaking Skies

I love taking people to places they have never been to. When people come to England the first thing that comes to mind is usually London. Living out in the "country" I have the opportunity to see more of what is offered in England. There are many cities that I enjoy seeing, one of which is Lincoln. I love the way the city looks and feels. I took the Cathedral Roof Tour for the first time with a friend of mine. It was so worth it. The views of the countryside are amazing and if you are lucky the sun may just break through the clouds.

Warwick Castle

Warwick is to Castles what Disneyland is to a typical American town...This is a commercially packaged castle tour, complete with costumed productions like the Knight returning to inform the desmnse of what's happening politically and armored men demonstrating battles.Well, actually, its much more real than Disneyland - at least the events portrayed DID actually occur here!I don't mean this is an uncomplementary way...this packaged-for-the-tourist place delivers all it promises and is a great way to spend a day. I sure wish a place like this was available when I was trying to interest my kids in history!

I've been a fan of Shakespeare for most of my life - as a kid who would read anything, I became the first person ever to read all of my Dad's set of the complete works of William Shakespeare - until I developed my fascination they were tucked away in a forgotten bookcase!I totally enjoyed the production of "The Taming of the Shrew" that we saw at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. RoaylShakespeareCompanyThis website is great - includes a seating chart so you can check out the available seats. We were in the cheap upper balcony, but they were great seats!!! I'll eventually have a page for Stratford...come back and look again!

Tea at the Ritz

stopping for a tea is a very civilized thing to do. At home I might grab a quick bite for lunch, but when in London, do the formal tea! This website had an assortment of places that do teas - now it sells a book doing the same thing! When I find a FREE source of tea information, I'll let you know... GoForTeaWe choose to go for the most obvious...and had a brilliant time!TeaAtTheRitz We arrived in London before 6 am, and were running around town all day...by our scheduled afternoon tea we were famished!After we finished our sandwichs (all you can eat - and we were starved!) we looked at the dessert trays, picked 3 to split - we wanted to each try everything but knew we couldn't do that! As we were choosing, I commented that Creme Bruille was my all-time favorite dessert. Although none were on the trays, the waiter came back a few minutes later with 2 more desserts for us to sample -...

Wells Cathedral

Sudeley Castle was the home of the Widow of Henry VIII. There is an interesting exhibit on his six wives in the restored section of the castle. after renting a car at Heathrow, our first stop was Windsor Castle.The official residence of the Queen is a showcase...not just the museum quality furnishings and history, but the living legend quality! This is a castle still occupied. It is designed to impress, and succeeds admirably! WinsdorCastleMy least favorite memory of England happened here - I got a parking ticket for parking slightly over the line in a parking space...and during all the rest of my travels I warned other tourists to beware of encroaching on the next space!!!
