Heathrow Things to Do

  • Excellent Place to wait for the Flight:...

I arrived at the terminal 3 early enough determined to enjoy the facilities offered by the Virgin Atlantic Airways Clubhouse and I was not disappointed.I had a cooked breakfast and coffee and capuccino to follow. my shoes were shined and i had time enough for a hair cut. the wifi is free and fast. All Courtesy of Virgin Atlantic Airways

  • Grounded Concorde

If you're an airplane fan and trying to kill time in Terminal 1, walk out toward Gate 45. There is a BA Concorde parked out between the taxiways.

Heathrow Restaurants

  • Another Weatherspoon Pub

The Crown Rivers Pub is located in the departure area of the Main Terminal building 5A.This pub got its name from the two royal rivers: the Longford and The Duke of Northumberland's rivers. These rivers were diverted at the first construction of the Airport and again for the construction of Terminal 5.The pub is an open place at one of the sides of...

  • CASUAL and FAST

This new restaurant at terminal 4 offers such British delights as Kentish Crumble, bacon sandwiches, jam rolly-pollys and a wonderful selection of other British favourites. The same company does the catering at Wembley Stadium and plans to open up restaurants at airports throughout the USA and Australia. The red telephone box and the horse gives it...

  • REASONABLE PRICED COFFEE AT TERMINAL 4

Just as you leave the duty free area and head towards your departure gate there is a Costa Coffee Shop which offers a good variety of coffee and other drinks as well as sandwiches at a very reasonable price---the cheapest place i found considering airports are renowned for their high prices.

Heathrow Transportation

  • EASY and FAST

Not sure if this tip is in the correct place but you will find that the check in process at Heathrow , T4 is easy and fast. Once you have found the location of your check in counter, head for the immigration and security checks which are also very efficient. In no time you will find yourself in the duty free area where all the information regarding...

  • Tagged baggage

Sorry for the late update. Just to let you know that my bags were tagged through from Osaka to Belfast, despite korean and BA not being partner airlines and being told by korean that the bags would need to be picked up at heathrow. Also there were no long queues at terminal 1 at that time (17:30) so everything went smoothly. Good luck for anyone...

  • Heathrow Airport, transfers by tube

Often on the forum there are questions regarding transfers between terminals so i just like to mention that you can transfer between T 4 and T1,2 or 3 by tube. From terminal 1,2,3 just hop on the tube and the next stop is T4, but from T4 you must hop on the train to Hatton Cross which is the next stop where you get off and hop on the train going in...

Heathrow Shopping

  • Books, magazines and more

It will be hard not to encounter a W.H. Smith bookshop at Heathrow. They seem to be the exclusive book and magazine seller at the Airport and probably also the only shop selling popular CD's and DVD's.All Heathrow terminals have branches of the shop; the main one is at Terminal 3 and has a broad book collection.

  • DUTY FREE BOOZE

There is a marvelous selection of duty free drinks available and sometimes there are special offers such as 2 for 1 or free gifts. If you are lucky you may be offered a free shot of whisky to settle your nerves before your flight!!!

Heathrow Warnings and Dangers

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you fancy avoiding submitting to the horror of the tube you might want to get a coach , however National Expresses ticket office will only have one person serving at a time for information and ticket sales even at peak times , they will also periodically stop to answer their mobile phones and fail to understand anything spoken in the merest hint of a foreign accent.
Save yourself the stress of dragging the little oik over the counter and beating him to death with your shoe by carrying a bit of cash and paying the driver. You'll still have to find the right bus though.

Study the exchange rates in the photograph and observe the difference between the selling and buying rates, and you will find that someone is making a huge profit. Try to have money in your pocket before you arrive there as once you change some the cost of savings at duty free will be wiped out.

28 pence is the difference between buying and selling euros, that is almost 14% they are making on the transaction, which seems a ridiculous amount to me.

  • Departing from Terminal 5

Heathrow Terminal 5 is not one building. There are two separate "docking" buildings 5C and 5B.These two are connected to the Main Terminal 5A by subterranean light rail transportation. This implies that in all three buildings you have to move a lot between floors. At arrival you will find several self-service gate pass machines. All you need is your...

  • Answer to Forum Question on Terminal...

In late April, 2012 my wife and I had to do a similar trek at Heathrow. Let me give you my experience and you can decide.1) Arrived at Heathrow Terminal 3 on an American Airlines flight from Chicago (U.S. Passport) at about 9:00 a.m. local time. Walked to passport control and waited in line until about 10:30 a.m.2) Collected our bags which were...
