Can be rather busy
Better than Frankfurt and CDG
I arrived at the terminal 3 early enough determined to enjoy the facilities offered by the Virgin Atlantic Airways Clubhouse and I was not disappointed.I had a cooked breakfast and coffee and capuccino to follow. my shoes were shined and i had time enough for a hair cut. the wifi is free and fast. All Courtesy of Virgin Atlantic Airwaysmore

This new restaurant at terminal 4 offers such British delights as Kentish Crumble, bacon sandwiches, jam rolly-pollys and a wonderful selection of other British favourites. The same company does the catering at Wembley Stadium and plans to open up restaurants at airports throughout the USA and Australia. The red telephone box and the horse gives it...more
Just as you leave the duty free area and head towards your departure gate there is a Costa Coffee Shop which offers a good variety of coffee and other drinks as well as sandwiches at a very reasonable price---the cheapest place i found considering airports are renowned for their high prices.more
Not sure if this tip is in the correct place but you will find that the check in process at Heathrow , T4 is easy and fast. Once you have found the location of your check in counter, head for the immigration and security checks which are also very efficient. In no time you will find yourself in the duty free area where all the information regarding...more
Sorry for the late update. Just to let you know that my bags were tagged through from Osaka to Belfast, despite korean and BA not being partner airlines and being told by korean that the bags would need to be picked up at heathrow. Also there were no long queues at terminal 1 at that time (17:30) so everything went smoothly. Good luck for anyone...more
Often on the forum there are questions regarding transfers between terminals so i just like to mention that you can transfer between T 4 and T1,2 or 3 by tube. From terminal 1,2,3 just hop on the tube and the next stop is T4, but from T4 you must hop on the train to Hatton Cross which is the next stop where you get off and hop on the train going in...more
Airport bookshops are good for finding reading matter to take when travelling. As I read a lot, and cannot find English books easily where I live, I try to get a stock when in UK, but they are heavy, so prefer to buy at the airport and then carry them on board . Some flights I have been on don't offer entertainment, so I find a book essential....more
If you fancy avoiding submitting to the horror of the tube you might want to get a coach , however National Expresses ticket office will only have one person serving at a time for information and ticket sales even at peak times , they will also periodically stop to answer their mobile phones and fail to understand anything spoken in the merest hint of a foreign accent.
Save yourself the stress of dragging the little oik over the counter and beating him to death with your shoe by carrying a bit of cash and paying the driver. You'll still have to find the right bus though.
Study the exchange rates in the photograph and observe the difference between the selling and buying rates, and you will find that someone is making a huge profit. Try to have money in your pocket before you arrive there as once you change some the cost of savings at duty free will be wiped out.
28 pence is the difference between buying and selling euros, that is almost 14% they are making on the transaction, which seems a ridiculous amount to me.
In late April, 2012 my wife and I had to do a similar trek at Heathrow. Let me give you my experience and you can decide.1) Arrived at Heathrow Terminal 3 on an American Airlines flight from Chicago (U.S. Passport) at about 9:00 a.m. local time. Walked to passport control and waited in line until about 10:30 a.m.2) Collected our bags which were...more
Heathrow is not as easy to sleep in as for example Stansted. I looked for a nice place to sleep in Terminal 3 but decided that this was not a real option. Benches are almost only available in the first floor, in a corner far to the left close to a pub. Of these, only a couple are without armrests and upholstered. As of 2008, it was not...more
