Not a local custom tip really, just a tree tip. As you see this tree is lucky, another plant decided to climb her and keep her warm in winter, maybe other trees are jeleous, who knows. We all need someone to keep us warm sometimes in this cold unfriendly city. Leave a Comment

Not really a custom, just didn't know where too put this. Due to the relatively tight quarters in the city of London, people are very fond of smalll cars. One car in particular is the Smart Car. Its a two person car that's perfect for driving in central London as parking can be hard to find. Coming from Southern California, where I'm surrounded by huge trucks and SUVs, I kinda think a car that small is hilarious and pretty cute and pretty cool. Leave a Comment

Once a year, usually in September, over 500 buildings of historic and architectural importance open their doors to the general public. Free admission and sometimes even tours and talks by architects can be had. There is a printed or online pdf guide available for sale and the money goes to the Open House charity. This is a unique opportunity to see inside buildings that most people normally don't get a look at. Leave a Comment

One thing about London, they do have a lot of pubs! All kinds but not all pubs in London are expansive, high-ceilinged All Bar One-type spots. Take the Cock (22 Fleet Street, The City, EC4, 7353 3454), for example, one of the narrowest pubs in London. The Cock was actually moved in the late 19th century from the other side of the road in order to make way for the building of a new branch of the Bank of England. A branch, incidentally, that is itself now a pub. London is the only place I saw of United Kingdom but Tim Roth is the best experience I had since fish and chips! Leave a Comment

Pubs (public houses) are found on almost every corner in London. Be certain to stop in for a pint or two, a snack or even a meal. It's not uncommon to visit the area pub everyday for a drink after work. This is totally a part of British culture. I know we frequented the pub (The Volunteer) across the street from our flat on Baker Street quite regularly and we always saw the same people there. My drink of choice @ the pub is cider, hands down. I'd classify the food served as comfort food- sandwiches, fish and chips, shepherd's pie, etc. And it's quite affordable where London is concerned.
