  • Tip Rating:
  • By plane. There is three airports here, Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead.
Best way is touse the underground (subway). It's cheap and it takes you almost anywhere. Just look out for the sign you see here to the right.

    British Airways Flight to London
  • Tip Rating:
  • We got there by plane. It's one of the options. If you are in Paris you can take the Eurostar (cheaper than a plane) or travel by train (Britrail) if you are somewhere in UK.
To move around I'd recommend using the tube!!!

  • Tip Rating:
  • We arrived in London, at Gatwick International airport, from where we took a train directly to Victoria Station in the center of London.
London has the oldest subway system in the world, and you will be able to get anywhere you want to, in the 'tube'. The Underground system is also one of the most extensive in the world. Taxis are plentiful, and they do used the meter.

  • i thought it a rather long swim from the New England shore so I took an airplane.
If you are up to it, walk. You see much more and walking is good for you.
Those double decker busses are just marvelous. They are inexpensive and are all over London. Get a route map and schedule. A boat on the Thames will get you to Hampton Court (Henry VIII, Cardinal Woolsey) upstream and to Greemwich and maritime history, downstream. The underground (subway) is excellent but you don't see anything. For God's sake, don't drive!

For me the best way to reach...
  • Tip Rating:
  • For me the best way to reach London is the plane. There're 4 airport in London; the most important and usefull is Heathrow, the other are Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton. There are very much flights from/to London and you can find very low fares with many no-frills airlines eg. GO - EASYJET - VIRGIN - BUZZ - RYANAIR or you can use one of the most important airlines (the uk airlines is the British Airways)
I advice you to use the bus or the TUBE (underground - take a look of the tube map) for visiting London, bacause this is a speedy way, but unluckly not the more cheeper (there isn't nothing cheeper here). Now I try to give you some info about the fares: the city is divided in 6 zones, the most important monuments, palaces, eg... are in the first zone. The fares of tickets are different and depending how many zones you cross during yor journey. If you plan to do a single or two journeys i suggest you to take a one-way ticket, instead i suggest you a Day Travelcard for zone 1 and 2 (4,10 £). if you plan to use the metro on a week-end I suggest you to buy a Weekend Travelcard (6.10 £). With this travelcard you can use both metro and buses. IMPORTANT: if you buy a oneway ticket, don't throw away it before the end of your journey because you need it for the way out.

  • Tip Rating:
  • We always go by boat with our own car but by plane it's also not too bad. When taking a ferry, take one of those internet online booking agencies, they cost less.
Take the metro or the bus. Cabs are also funny, but in the dense traffic not always very fast.
