  • Trader Vics is situated at The Hilton Hotel on Park Lane Mayfair , Low key snack dining and cocktails. Waitress served.
    At £9.00 + 15% service charge per spirit + coke, a round of drinks for six soon adds up. Trader Vic must have been a stockbroker.
    It's an upmarket venue for the well heeled.

    There is always something going on here, a rally ,concert or an exhibition, put it on your list of places to visit. This shot shows Nelsons column, Thunderbird 3 (yes really) and the view down Whitehall to Westminster and Big Ben.

  • Only place in town worth having a friend recommend you for an application. Yes, you need a membership and the pre-requisites are very strict, you better have a large bank account. A lil snooty, but my god, you will write up these nights as part of your memoirs! The music is exceptional and the staff will cater to your every need. Even though pictures are not allowed, I managed to take a few. We simply took them fast, not that it was any more discreet but after a few drinks, everything seems possible.

    Upper class - you have got to dress up!

  • Known for house/hard house/trance nights. For 'full on' clubbers. Quite dark, but good.

  • Well known Dj's come here, the music is house and if you're thinking of going to Fabric (The big club in Farringdon) You should reconsider and go to Turnmills instead. Less young student types.. much better in my opinion.

    Ok, Now Umbaba has not been open long and its one of Londons new Exclusive Clubs.

    If you can get in her or on guestlist to this club I would say go there. Its excellent especially Friday Nights.

    It was Valentines night and Tower Bridge was bathed in pink light, the walkways across the top were open to the public and there was free champagne. We couldn`t refuse, two lovers having recently walked across Sydney Harbour Bridge, we wanted to add to our tally. The Bridge was opened in 1894 and has become on of Londons icons but many people don't realise that you can go up into the walkways or down into the engine rooms. The bridge is insured a ship by Lloyds of London and until 1917 it was operated by ex sailors and servicemen. When it comes to raising the bridge, river traffic still has precedence over road traffic.
    Interesting bridge fact 1 - the first London Bridge was built of wood by the romans between 100 & 300ad King Ethelred and King Olaf of Norway burned it down to divide the Danish forces, this act is commemorated in the rhyme `London Bridge is falling down`
    Interesting bridge fact 2 - in 1305 the head of Scots patriot Willam Wallace was displayed on London Bridge and started a gruesome custom of displaying traitors heads there. Thomas More's head was put up in 1535.

  • As I was searching the web I found this terrific website that lists pubs in London by a number of different searchable options, by tube station, by ranking, by area. They even have pub crawls listed for many of the different neighborhoods. A true must see for fans of the pint!
