What you need!

One piece of luggage, if you come to visit London and a bag to take your important personal belongings, such as cameras, moneybags, umbrella and so.
Comfortable shoes; in winter, scarf, gloves,a hat, a strong coat, some pullovers and corduroy trousers, and something thinner because when you enter a place, the heating is quite high and you'd like to get rid of some of your clothing layers; an umbrella.
Be forsighted to bring enough photo reels/memory cards because London is also expensive for that. Leave a Comment

Pack light-London is great for shopping but expensive. The weather is rather like San Francisco-cool summers and warm winters. The grass is always green.

Pack light-you do not need everything you think you do! You can always buy there. We went in May and we wore layers of clothes since it was very chilly and rained just about everyday if only for a few hours. I packed one pants suit that was dressy enough to wear to the theatre and could be worn separately for diner. Otherwise, jeans,Khakis and a long black skirt saw me thru every excursion. I borrowed my daughter's sweatshirt to layer under my jean jacket on one particularly damp, rainy, windy trip to the tower of London.
UMBELLA! Comfortable shoes-lots of walking. Jacket and sweater.
We bought stuff at the Body Shop since our Hotel did not include toiletries. Leave a Comment

Portable water boiler, if you need to make milk for infant/ child as most hotels don't supply hot water.
If you are going during the months from September onwards, it is advisable to bring along a wind breaker or a warmer overcoat. Weather by end September is cool.... especially after dark.

Seriously, don't forget to bring an umbrella with you to London. You never know when it might rain! Leave a Comment

Take a bag that can expand or has more give in it. For example I took a big duffle bag that had several pockets. It was also a bag that I could keep secure.
Bring something warm and even an umbrella that is portable. And definately very comfortable shoes ... there could be a lot of walking involved, especially if there is a strike.
I brought along a small first aid kid as well as the normal toiletry items that I would carry. I also brought along shampoo, because some English hotels don't provide complimentary shampoo for your stay. They have the soaps but not the shampoo.
Definately bring a fast speed film so that if there is poor lighting (and many places won't allow flash photography or flashes on digital or video cameras) that this way the high speed film will be able work on your subject. I found it easy to get extra batteries there. I went to a chemist nearby Covent Garden and the woman there was extremely helpful.
Didn't venture there then. Leave a Comment

The streets are very crowded so try to pack light as it is hard to pack heavy suitcases to your hotel.
Bring an umbrella and a light rain coat. You never know when the sky will open up. Also, make sure you buy a good pair of walking shoes and break them in a little before hitting the streets.
Don't forget your digital camera charger! I did, but thank goodness had thought to bring a film camera as well. Leave a Comment

Trolly bags are a good idea. Avoid the rush hour when you are going to the airport. If you have a back pack TAKE IT OFF YOU BACK WHEN YOU ARE IN THE TUBE!!! The only people that keep them on tend to be newly arrived antipodeans. Its considered very rude and selfish but it's also dangerous as you whack the people behind you when you turn around.
You shouldn't need me to tell you but most people forget to bring their umbrella. Yes it will rain but there is no reason why it should spoil your visit.
Bring stuff with you, don't count on buying it in London as it will cos tyou twice as much.
Don't come to the UK to buy electronic equipment. Its not that cheap and the warranty might not be valid when you get home. Bring video cams and cameras with you.
Camping is quite popular in the UK but you need a car to get to campsites and you need to be prepared for the rain. Leave a Comment
