Adrian decided to surprise me one evening by booking us a table at the Blue Elephant in Fulham Broadway. We had often driven past the restaurant and wondered what it would be like…A few friends had shared some special moments there in the past and although it was expensive, had recommended it as a place to go for a memorable experience.
So one evening, after a really good business month, Adrian treated me to a night out - It was fabulous!
Once you enter the restaurant’s double doors, you leave behind the hustle and bustle of a busy Fulham street, and enter an oasis of calm retreat: the restaurant is filled with palms, ferns, orchids and waterfalls and rushing streams bursting with multi-coloured Koi…it really is a sight to be seen!
We kicked started the evening off with a cocktail each: The Emerald Coco – a hollowed out coconut filled with coconut water, white rum, midori and rambutan. Adrian really enjoyed his, but I wasn’t too keen on mine – the coconut water was a bit overpowering, so I was happy have Ad finish mine off!
We shared a platter called PEARLS OF THE "Blue Elephant" – a wonderful collection of starters: spring rolls, chicken satay, samui crab and prawn toast to name a few delicious treats.
I had the grilled marinated beef sirloin with herbs and spices in a lovely spicy sauce and Adrian had the red thai curry – both of us shared a bowl of sticky rice. We washed it down with some sparkling water and a bottle of Chardonnay.
We had no room for dessert!
The service was first class - as was the venue. We had a wonderful time. We would definitely rate the experience and recommend it highly to anyone wanting to make an impact on their date! This is one place they won't forget in a hurry!
The Blue Elephant is located on Fulham Broadway and is my favourite Thai in London. Not only is the food of such high quality and wonderful flavours. The décor is very unique and you feel you are actually in Thailand and not Fulham.
For many years I have walked past the shoddy exterior and would never consider eating in this establishment until a friend had recommended it to me.
Well!!! You can imagine my surprise when I entered into this little paradise. Dark Wooden Flooring, lush green plants throughout the whole restaurant, a fish pond running through and a bridge which divides the bar from the main restaurant.
The bar itself is something to experience alone, with its 12m gold swan and wicker chairs throughout and a vast selection of cocktails.
I have never been to Thailand, but a lot of people have mentioned this is home from home. My only regret is I never visited this restaurant earlier.
The service, food and selection of wine is very good, however, it can be an expensive night especially as the cocktails range from £7.90 upwards.
Vegetarians and Vegans have an individual menu and are well catered for.
I came here quite a while ago but the thing that stands out the most is the décor. It is like walking into a Thai garden - there are tons of flowers, especially orchids, and green plants growing everywhere. From the reception you walkover a pretty bridge to cross a running stream and pond. The food, too, is excellent and well presented. There are set menus if that is your style. The women get a beautiful orchid when you leave which is a nice touch even if it does remind you of a Thai Airways flight!
The Blue Elephant
