I read about this cafe on here and can only say VISIT it, go on you know you must. Double pie, mash and liquer for under 3 quid makes this not only a fantastic meal it also makes it a cheap meal too (somewhat unusual in London).
The decor is functional and unassuming, you get the feeling that what you see is what you get. The place is constantly busy with locals (always a good sign) and tourists alike eating here. The tables are long tables and the seats benches, so you could be sharing your table with others and this adds to the attraction of the place. The smell as you walk in is great and the food perfect.
If you have enough room to fit in desert i would recommend the apple pie and ice cream, the pie tastes like something your gran would make (assuming shes a good cook) and the ice cream is to die for, and at 1.40 gbp a bargain too..........
For 7.00gbp we both ate heartly and I was seriously torn between raving about the place or keeping it quiet in case it gets too busy.
One thing that should be stressed is that unless you fancy a hike through Greenwich you should get off the DLR at the Cutty Sark as this is only a moments walk from Goddards.
WELL WORTH THE TREK ACROSS LONDON.

Favorite Dish: Double pie and mash with gravy for the larger appetite, with apple pie and ice cream or custard washed down with a cuppa......

This is a must if you’re hungry in Greenwich. Yes, we Brits suffer the same tired old jokes about our cuisine, but tuck into ‘olde’ traditional pies from Goddard’s and you’d be hard-pressed not to admit they’re bloody nice in-between mouthfuls. Best enjoyed either dining in the atmospheric cockney interior or clutched between your paws as you stroll up to through Greenwich Park towards the Royal Observatory.

Goddards is in the centre of Greenwich (take the Cutty Sark DLR exit) and does fabulous pie and mash (with liquor or gravy) starting from £2.10.

Am reliably informed that their jellied eels are pretty good too 'tho that's not my kind of thing. But if you're tired and hungry you won't go far wrong here.

However, do be prepared to wait - queues are always very long and you are all seated on trestle tables, sharing with strangers (there is an upstairs area as well).

Favorite Dish: Meat pie and mash followed by their fabulous cherry pie and ice-cream ... topped off with a steaming mug of hot tea!

Goddards Pie House: A popular pie shop in Greenwich

    Goddard's Pie House

Goddard's traditional pie and mash shop in Greenwich has adapted to a more cosmopolitan world by offering a wider range of pies than is traditional, with alien side orders like baked beans. But it still does the real thing as well (the liquor was a bit thin for my liking but that's a small point). Judging by the queues on a Saturday evening it remains extremely popular with the locals.

Unusually for London's pie shops, it's licensed, though a cup of tea is still best!

Favorite Dish: Double pie, double mash and liquor, with a cup of tea to wash it down.

    Goddard's Pie Shop

The staple diet of East Londoners, of which I am one. Great Pie and Mash at a bargain price. I love the place but the food may not be to everyone's taste.

Favorite Dish: Double pie and mash swimming in liquor and covered with lots of pepper and vinegar. Mmmmmm ....

Goddards Pie House: Pie n' Mash Culture

    Goddards Pie House

Goddards was established in 1890 in Greenwich. This restaurant of traditional English cuisine was once one of London's best secrets, but no longer as it can be often a long cue running out the door. However most importantly the prices are untypically low for London.

Favorite Dish: Tradition English stodge of mash and mushy peas alongside a decent pie. Vegetarians will be happy to see that Goddards have something for you too. For those of you who like something very traditionally London there are the jellied eels to dig ones teeth into.
