Gourmet Pizza Company: Pizza by the Thames
Update April 2014: extra photo added
This is a great option if you’re walking the South Bank of the Thames and in need of refreshment, or if you’re visiting one of the arts venues but want to eat somewhere away from the complex and from some of the crowds. The building is nothing fancy, looking more like a large shed than anything else, but the location right on the river is fabulous and the pizzas great! In the summer there are outside tables which are much in demand, but on our recent visit, just before Christmas, those same tables were cleverly enclosed on a cosy indoor terrace.
Favorite Dish: Although there are other dishes on the menu, the pizzas are the thing to come for I reckon. On that recent visit I had one with a delicious topping of spinach, artichokes, pesto and baby mozzarella balls, while Chris enjoyed the Classic Italian with ham, olives and mushrooms. To start with we’d shared the Rosemary Dough Sticks which come with a tomato and basil dip, and in so a generous portion that we had no room for dessert!
Prices are very reasonable for the location – our bill, which included a beer for Chris and large glass of red wine for me, was just under £40 (not including service, which was friendly and efficient).
Gourmet Pizza Company: Gourmet Pizza Company
A few minutes walk from my old office on the South Bank! An upmarket pizza joint that rather has the edge over Pizza Hut and the rest. Good food, good wine and a nice location - if pizza is your thing.
