This restaurant is obviously very popular if the photos in the entrance are anything to go by. Just a glimpse showed former Conservative Prime Minister John Major, singer Tom Jones, and TV personality Katie Boyle. But there were many more I'd no time to look at.
The restaurant is not very large, so a booking is preferred unless you want to be disappointed. We went by luck on a Monday and managed to get the only free table.
The service was slow but only because everything was being freshly cooked- no reheated stuff.
The patron was very friendly and kept popping by for a chat, so you really felt your custom was valuable to him.
Favorite Dish: We actually only tried two main dishes, though one of us had the chicken soup which was excellent; two desserts were ordered also, and the plates went back clean, except for the flower decorating the plate! [lemon tart with strawberries; mixed strawberries and raspberries with ice cream]
We had ravioli stuffed with salmon and ricotta cheese, with a walnut sauce- delicious.
And canelloni genovese- 4 large canelloni tubes filled with veal and spinach mixture with a cheese sauce - divine. This dish was too much to finish,.... It cost GBP 11.50 as a main dish; or 8.50 as a starter.
The bread rolls to start were eaten with olive oil from the family estate.
