The Langley likes to count itself as a Covent Garden institution. Set in a cavernous basement this bar and restaurant is on the trendy side and popular with media types as well as the usual office worker crowd. It also has a Happy Hour between 17.00 and 19.00 when drinks are up to half price.
The place gets very crowded towards the end of the week so if you're going there for a special occasion it can be best to try and book a table.
While this is quite a trendy joint to catch an after work drink the fact that it is so big means it has a really bad acoustic - everyone's speech is amplified so when busy it can become quite hard to hear people speak through the din.
Overall this place is probably more style than substance but still worth checking out for something a little different that won't totally break the bank balance.
Favorite Dish: This was booked via the internet as part of a special theatre deal through lastminute.com which meant that we pre-paid and chose from a set menu. To be honest this place serves dishes that are standard in many pubs. The breaded goats cheese was a good choice for starter as was the mushroom soup.
Mains were a bit on the dull side. I had char grilled chicken with wild mushrooms and pesto on a bed of rocket. The chicken was nice enough though actually would have been better if grilled a bit longer as the skin seemed a little bit underdone and greasy.
The rest of the menu is nothing that amazing, fish and chips or steak were also available.
The rose wine in here is very nice indeed!
