A Carribbean restaurant my boyfriend and I stumbled upon as we were walking around London. He is from the UK, but not from London, and I am American so neither of us knew the neighborhood. We were just so unbelievably hungry we walked into the first restaurant we saw. What an amazing find!
He had the steak and I ordered salmon, and everything was absolutely perfect. I don't remember it being overly expensive, we thought it was well worth it for the amazing meal we had. This was in March 2010 and I saved their card, because I plan to go back when I visit London again this Jan!
Favorite Dish: salmon was cooked to perfection, and so full of flavor
I have several favorite restaurants here in London. Let's start with the BEST Caribbean restaurant (in my humble opinion) that is called - MANGO ROOM - nestled in the hip Camden district. I heard from the grapevine that this is a celebrities haunt. But just so you know, on the few occasions that I was there, I never bumped into any celebrity! No David Beckham. No Hugh Grant. No Elizabeth Hurley. No Elton John. No Kate Moss! :-((
If you're on a budget, this place is definitely not for you. Expect to pay at least £30.00 for a 2 course a la carte meal (dinner). Price is inclusive of VAT. If you wish to live it up a little, just remember that a bottle of sparkling champagne starts at £28.50. Cheers!
Favorite Dish: You MUST try their Fish in Tomato Sauce (yummy!), delicious Potato and Crab Balls and the Jerk-Chicken (yes, you're reading correctly).
They are ALL absolutely a delight! ;-)
MANGO ROOM: The managers are 2 Jamaican guys very kindly!!! This restaurant is a Traditional and modern Caribbean Cuisine.
BEAN'N'CUP: A nice coffe bar to have breakfast. You can take a delicious 'cappuchino' and a big croassant sitting in a comfy sofa. In the morning is not crowded like the afternoon so is a nice place to stay long time drinking coffe or tea and just stay with friends.
The restaurant is very nice... good atmosphere, with lots of candels...
All the bar is made of wood, comfy sofas of different colours....
Favorite Dish: I tasted Chicken with coconut sauce. MMM Delicious! and also, Fried Bananas... in the Mango Room
A big cup of coffee and a butter croassant in the Bean'n'Cup.
