The Mermaid's Tail Restaurant is right in the middle of the action in Leicester Square. You might think that would make it overpriced or crowded, but that has not been my experience. I've eaten here twice, and both times, the food was delicious and the service was wonderful!
Favorite Dish:
They frequently have special early dinner prices on their fish and chips which taste fabulous, especially for the price. Follow it up with a fried Mars Bar for another unique culinary experience!
We were delighted to come across this new restaurant in Leicester Square!
There is a lot of change happening here, like the old swiss building having been knocked down and a new hotel being developed in its place. There are some new restaurants too, with some oldies gone.
This is a vibrant and *happening* area... loads of people, locals and tourists flock to the square.
This is where movie premiers happen at the Odeon, and where there are often open air events. Today there was an open air music event, but it was rap music, which is not our cup of tea, and was too loud and ruined things for us to be honest.
The restaurant itself has an indoor and outdoor area - it being gloriously sunny, we sat outside.
Throughout the restaurant inside there are mermaid-themed touches, the inside is more opulent, nice for an evening out! The outside is more casual, under big umbrellas, with cane furniture.
It is open from Monday to Sunday, from 11am to 12pm.
Favorite Dish:
We had to try their cod and chips. It was a big fish, although hubby's seemed to have more batter than fish. Mine and my sister's was fine though, tasty and well cooked. Chips (fries) were crisp and tasty.
We ordered a crisp green salad with it, it was a large salad and we could have shared it, as it was only a side. A BIG side!
The atmosphere is laid back but service is good and not laid back.
Something I really like about this restaurant is their ethos in that they do not sell any *sport* fish, including dolphin, swordfish or tuna. BIG thumbs up from us for this!!!
This newer restaurant has great ambiance and good food. We went soon after they opened and we really enjoyed it!
They had a fish'n'chips special that was incredibly tasty AND very well priced.
I'd definitely go again!
Open Monday to Sunday 11am to 12pm
Favorite Dish:
Fish & Chips and a deep-fried Mars bar. Both were very good.
