Mezzo: A change of name
Whilst grouping and researching restuarant tips, I found internet information suggesting that the former Mezzo restaurant, which was known as a gay male restuarant, has now been re-opened under the name Floridita, and there are several more recent tips on VT about this new venture. Whether or not the venue is still predominantly gay I do not know.
I submit this tip so that people do not have a wasted journey based on a 2005 VT tip.
It's a well banging place, with a funky bar and relaxed area upstairs, and a restaurant downstairs. There are live bands playing every night till about midnight, and then the vibe switches over to tunes played by a dj... very very good, pumping atmosphere. The adjoining bar, Mezzoluna, is a sexy retreat with luxurious leather furnishings, sultry lighting with an innovative cocktail list!
Favorite Dish: Duck... wow I never knew duck could ever taste SO good, it was extremely tender and the juices and sauces were to die for!!!!
Mezzo: Only with an expence account
This is a Conran effort so expect lots of pretention and high prices. Food here is good enough but not especially good value for money. There are two floors with posh british/european food served downstairs which is seriously expenisve and not at all brilliant and oreintal food served on the mezzanine level. The food on the mezzanine level is not bad but I left hungry but its not so expensive. Food downstairs was just average and fortunatley I was a guest of a client so I wasn't paying the bill.

Mezzo: Big, fun and great food
A Terence Conran venture that attracts London's media crowd and the wanabes that cling to them. The main restaurant in the basement is fun and noisy and the food and service are outstanding for the price. Mezzonine is a more casual, cheaper eatery on the ground floor.
