A mid-week dinner with friends was on the agenda, and the venue was the Naked Turtle in East Sheen, South West London.

This unusually named restaurant is a little gem. Their cuisine is South African influenced and delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and the service is great.

You can have a drink before your meal, and weather permitting there is a terrace where you can relax and watch the passing commuters. They even have a happy hour each day.

There is a jazz pianist who plays throughout the evening, and the best part - singing waitresses!! Don't worry, they don't sing to you as they serve your food, instead, at stages through out the evening, the girls take it in turns to sit at the piano and sing some jazz classics.

Favorite Dish: So, the food. Well, it was pretty good. For starter, Alex had the Confit Duck Salad, Nik had the Seared Diver Scallops and Tandor had the Calamari rings with Lime butter. I may have sampled all of them, and they were all tasty.

For the main course Tandor & I had the Beef Rump, and Alex & Nik had the Blesbok (a type of Antelope). The boys certainly made the right choice, although the Rump was good, the Blesbok just melted in your mouth.

Desserts all round. Alex had the Bitter chocolate mousse, raspberries and kirsch. Nik had the Lime Creme Cataflan, caramelised orange. Tandor and I both had the Cape Malva pudding with vanilla pod ice cream - this was kind of like a Sticky Toffee pudding, but better!

To drink we had a couple of bottles of a very nice South African red wine called from Jordan Estate.

This was a great evening with good friends, and it was a celebration as well - it was Tandor's birthday and they announced their engagement! Cheers!!
