  • a chain with several locations, they serve many versions of a thin crust pie. I had the "Sloppy Guiseppi", which was a pie with sloppy joe meat and sauce, and it was out of the world. The service, however is terrible, as my waiter just vanished and I waited a good 20 minutes for my bill which was slammed down without a word. If you can get over the poor service, this is a great place for cheap pie.

    I liked Benjy's for the simple fast food. Also try hot chocolate at delice de france, its cheap and heartening as well. Did not venture out for the big hotels as it is very costly for my wallet.

    This is my favourite chain of Italian restaurants and luckily for me easy to find in any city in the U.K.
    We had a lovely meal at the pizza express on the corner of Marylebone Road and Baker Street.
    As always the food was excellent and the service quick and efficient.
    The price is reasonable too. 3 pizza's, 3 fruit juices, dough balls and 3 latte's £37.40
    excellent value.

    I had my usual American hot pizza with extra mushrooms, which as usual was delicious, and a side order of dough balls which come with a dish of garlic butter.

  • "Not as good as it used to be" is the general consensus regarding Pizza Express. When it first appeared on the scene what must be a decade ago now, it set new standards in value-for-money in the casual dining sector by offering good quality, traditional Italian pizzas at a reasonable price in nice surroudings. These days, the pizzas seem to have gotten smaller (something denied by the company), and the whole thing is looking a little stale now that there are so many copy-cat operations - and since Sainbury's started selling Pizza Express pizzas you can cook yourself. Still worth a look for a nice lunch or casual dining with friends, but don't expect too much.

    In the good old days I used to get a four cheese pizza with extra pepperoni, mushrooms and fried egg on top. Now, my half-hearted attempts to lose some weight plus the fact that I don't go to Pizza Express much anymore mean I haven't eaten this for years.

  • Damm good pizza at reasonable prices too with a nice sit down atmosphere. Peroni beer and pizza. Nothing better for my tummy.

    Pepperoni pizza - sounds boring, but its delicious. And of course BEER!

    After a full day of sightseeing (and walking a lot) we were all tired and ready to return to the hotel but needed some nourishment as well. We decided to just check out some of the places in our hotel area near the Baker Street tube stop. When the kids spotted the Pizza Express
    just across the street from the station we decided to stop in. What a great choice! First of all the man who greeted us didn't bllink at our group of 10 but quickly moved tables and chairs to accommodate our party. A little research tells me that this is a large chain in the UK (300+) restaurants but they pride themselves on the freshness and quality of their food. This building was formerly a bank and its high ceiling along with nice period features gives it an comfortable ambience. There is also a large basement room as well as a terrace for outdoor dining.

    Since I did not do the ordering I don't know the names of the pizzas we ate, but they were all delicious. They have an open kitchen so you can see your food being freshly prepared. Prices seem fairly reasonable for London: pizzas for 6-10 GBP, a nice bottle of Chianti was about 15
    GBP, most starters are less than 2 GBP and desserts less than 5 GBP. I will go back next time I am in London.

    This branch of Pizza Express has live jazz too...with both UK and overseas artists playing live every night...best to book in advance.

    Another restaurant with a modern look. On each table there's a flag of different countries, I guess we looked American cos thats what the flag was on our table.

    There's a variety of pizzas available, which are all pretty good. They come in thin crusts, although the edges are a bit tough.

  • The pizzas servings are about the size of a dinner plate which is very filling. They are thin crust pizzas & have a good range of toppings. They also offer pasta dishes & tasty desserts.

    BANOFFEE PIE! I don't know who came up with this but, its one of the best ideas ever. I can't even describe it...you just have to try it!

    This is a standard Pizza Express restaurant but has an outdoor seating area, unfortunately it had been raining when we went early on a Saturday evening and there were only a few other tables occupied but service was pretty speedy. The decor was bright and colourful and it had a very friendly atmosphere.

    We didn't want to drink wine with our meal and definitely felt the attitude of the smiley waitress chill somewhat after we refused to order wine for the second time! We ordered Coke with our meals and later asked for some tap water which came with ice and lemon.

    Oh and we had a few green and black olives to start with.

    I had the vegetarian pizza with artichokes, asparagus, mushrooms etc - it was delicious.

    We didn't have a starter or a pudding and it came to about £11 per head (Service not included).
