Jazz After Dark, Pizza Express Jazz Club...: Jazz Music & Good meal

by venteeocho Written May 30, 2005

Jazz is very popular in London and is currently enjoying a revival. There are a few dedicated clubs specialising in jazz as well as a number of restaurants where you can relish the mellow jazz sounds whilst enjoying a delicious meal.

Each year, London plays host to the London Jazz Festival, a chance to enjoy the varying styles of jazz performed by the best artists from all over the world.

    Ronnie Scott's
    47 Frith Street, W1
    Tel: +44 (0)20 7439 0747

Ronnie Scott's is a legendary Soho club where the highest quality acts often play week long residencies. It can be expensive unless you are a member.

A favourite with the stars, Stanleys' red banquette seating and unlimited tomato sauce has big appeal for kids. Their bangers 'n' mash aren’t bad either!

A Jazz @ Pizza Express you will not only get a good pizza, some nights per week you can also listen to live Jazz.

Some days after I visited some Swedish artists would perform, the well known Nisse Landgren and Victoria Tolstoy.

Pizza Express: Pizza Express is always a Safe Bet

Pizza Express is an upscale, gourmet pizza chain. I've been to 3-4 different locations in London and the food is consistent. The Dean Street location is great, and offers a Jazz Club downstairs. The atmosphere is upbeat and trendy. The pizzas are thin crust and there is quite a variety. One note- the only beer they serve is Peroni!

Favorite Dish: Cajun Pizza- CAJUN prawns, red peppers, onions, tabasco pepper sauce, mozzarella, tomato

I put Tabasco on everything. So a pizza with built in Tabasco is my kind of pizza!

Another favorite of mine is the MOZZARELLA & TOMATO SALAD which consists of
slices of buffalo mozzarella and tomato with sun dried tomato.

    For dessert? Pear Tart!

I don't know if it was the best pizza in the city but it was the cheapest one I had for sure (free actually). I was almost every day in 'Pizza Express' restaurant run by my brother. Pizza was great.
Dining area - sort of family atmosphere, jazz club - nice and expensive.
