If you’re looking for a sandwich, light lunch or breakfast coffee and pastry, the Pret chain is a great place to start. They pride themselves on producing “handmade natural food avoiding the obscure chemical, additives and preservatives common to so much of the 'prepared' and 'fast' food on the market today.” With branches all over the city (and many other UK cities too), you’re never far from one, and they make a safe, good quality choice. Every Pret has its own kitchen (except for one or two of the tiny ones), and makes the sandwiches and other dishes fresh every day. Any food left at the end of the day is offered to charities for the homeless etc.

Favorite Dish: My favourite Pret sandwich is the relatively simple egg and tomato on rye (which I haven’t spotted for a while – hope it will be back soon!) Other popular choices include chicken and avocado, smoked salmon and great veggie choices such as hummus. I also like the jalapeno chicken hot wrap, and in winter the soups are tasty and warming. Check their website for a full list of their offerings.

Pret a Manger, or "the Pret" is a good place to stop off for an inexpensive lunch. The food is made fresh daily- the atmosphere is very modern and functional. The Pret offers sandwiches such as the Tomato, Brie and Basil Baguette, the Ham Cheese and Pickle, and the Kippered Salmon with Horseradish. They also have soup, crisps (or potato chips for Americans), desserts, cold sodas and hot chocolate.

Favorite Dish: Tuna Nicoise Salad Wrap with Salt and Vinegar Chips

    Fresh and Tasty.

This sandwich/cafe chain has a lot of branches across London and the country. Sandwiches, salads and pastries are made fresh daily on the premises. Any unsold items usually go to a homeless charity at the end of the day.

Favorite Dish: I had the free range egg Florentine Toastie accompanied by fresh coffee and a homemade bakewell tart which was enjoyable.

I haven’t heard about that place until I went to London, it looks like Starbucks but they offer more food. I had some delicious chocolate delight which was wonderful. I’ve also tried the sandwiches which were great especially for hungry people. They serve soups too.
    You can find them everywhere.

Favorite Dish: It was some chocolate cake

Pret a Manger: Perfect for a picnic

Pret a Manager is a staple to every trip to the UK. Handmade, natural sandwiches, soup, crisps, and fruit...their basic yet creative menu has something for everyone's taste buds. Our favourite thing to do on a lovely sunny day in London is a stop at Pret and a picnic at one of our favourite London parks.

Favorite Dish: I frequently have happy dreams about Pret's Aged Cheddar and Red Onion crisps all the way in Seattle. Yummmmm....

Pret a Manger: sandwiches, picnic food

by tinyvulture Written Feb 24, 2008

Pret a Manger sells healthy, all-natural fast food, not your typical burgers and fries. Their menu includes sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and desserts, with tons of vegetarian and light options. The prices aren't bad, so we saved money by eating here rather than a sit-down restaurant. Get your lunch and take it across the way to eat while people-watching in Trafalgar Square. (There are other locations all over the city as well)

Favorite Dish: The falafel wrap and avocado veggie sandwich were quite tasty and filling.

Pret a Manger is one of those chain companies that can be found on every corner. However, in contrast to other chain things, this one is actually nice. They offer different types of coffee, tea, salads, sandwiches, desserts etc. I really like them. And they use recycled napkins and organic coffee.

Favorite Dish: - rocket and crab meat sandwich
