Swan at the Globe: Wonderful food, great view
When I booked tickets for the Globe on line there was a notice for the Swan at the Globe restaurant for a pre-theatre dinner. Sounded good, so I booked us an early dinner. It was a set menu with some options for the entree and dessert. We were in England for about 17 days on this trip and this was one of the best meals we had. We were started with an Elderflower Cordial and Atisan Bread with truffle creme fraiche and confit tomatoes. For the entree my wife had poached salmon with basil mayonnaise and I had cold beef sirloin with English mustard. Both were served with new potatoes and chard and rocket salad. We finished with a bitter chocolate tart with passion fruit cream, coffee and petit fours. Everything was delicious! The price was 24.50 GBP with wine being additional (7.50 for a glass of nice Bordeaux).
Favorite Dish: The Swan is next to the Globe sitting on the banks of the Thames and with windows the full side over looking the river. At one end is a sort of bay window area and we were seated there. So we had not only a wonderful meal, but the best seats in the house
