 | London Clothes Reviews | Tips 131 - 140 of 141 | | Probably my favourite designer clothes store, Ted Baker is now rated as one of the world's top ten most successful retailers in a survey by Oxford University and KPMG. He has definitely come a long way since starting as a humble shirt designer in Glasgow, launching his first menswear range in 1988... This particular shop that I have featured is the original flagship store set over two levels, with another large store just around the corner on Floral St, which is a mecca for the trendier designer labels.
One of the main pleasures of buying Ted Baker clothes are the sheer quality and textures of the materials used. The shirts 'feel' like luxury on your skin using such synthetic textiles as Polynosic, Modal, Polyamide and Lycra to produce apparel that hugs your skin like velvet... Or at least the things I buy anyway... ;-) There is a formal line called 'Edward Baker' that deals in stylish suits and ties, though a lot of it is a bit garish for my tastes... The Ted Baker Woman range is also really funky and definitely looks good walking down the street towards you... ;-) The Langley Court shop is also where most of the sale merchandise seems to go, so there is a real chance you can get a good bargain here. Bottom line is that there is ALWAYS something in these shops that I want to buy. One of Ted Baker's closest contemporaries would be Paul Smith, who has a shop just around the corner from the shop I've featured here in Floral St
Probably the same sort of price range as say CK, but the quality of the material is far superior than just bunging a CK logo onto a t-shirt or jeans... If you are looking for trendy young fashions, head towards Urban Outfitters on Oxford Street. It is a curious mix of a high street shop and an independent young fashion designer boutique. These are not the clothes you would wear for a job interview -- unless you are a seeking a position here or in Diesel -- but instead they fit the streets. The store has three levels, all packed with clothes and other items worth checking. The pricetag is not the smallest, but this is not a high end fashion store either. Beside clothes, they sell also home furnishing and all kinds of smaller stuff. Leave a Comment

Oxford Street is Europe's busiest shopping street with over 300 shops. It's a mile and a half of department stores and numerous brand's flagship stores. Department stores include Selfridges, John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks and Spencer and House of Fraser. Other brands found here include Topshop (they claim this is the largest fashion store in the world and i wouldn't be surprised), H&M, HMV, GAP, Zara, New Look, Urban Outfitters, Borders, UNIQLO, Primark, River Island and Nike.
Anything! It's all here.
Anything from £1 in Primark to the ridiculously expensive in Selfridges. Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: Oxford Street, London W1Directions: Get off the tube at either Marble Arch, Bond Street, Oxford Circus or Tottenham Court RoadWebsite: www.oxfordstreet.co.uk

If you are in the Covent Garden area and are after designer gear head for Floral Street. It has both mens & womens boutigues, and Paul Smith has taken over several shops! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Turn right, and first right out of the tube station...

The Covent Garden branch is tiny, but they have a wide selection of modern, funky and fashionable sports shoes for men and women. The main brands include Adidas, Puma, Nike, Reef, New Balance, Reebok and Merrell. The staff is friendly, chatty and extremely helpful. In 2006, the store won the award for "the Best New Store in the Drapers Footwear Awards", a glittering industry event celebrating the best of footwear retailing across the UK and Irish Republic. It was praised for its innovative store design and mixture of exclusive from bestselling brands that sit alongside big-name designer sports tie-ups. The Cashmere Gallery, as the name would suggest, sells cashmere clothes for women and men. They also sell a selection of handbags and pashminas. By the time I went past it I was on a bus, having been to the V&A and Harrods. The legs indicated it was time to sit down but I couldn't help but notice as we jerked our way along Brompton Road how good it would be to have time to shop along here. Oxford Circus is a great area for shopping. It tends to get very, very, very crowded in the area in the summertime. July is a busy month with half off sales in the area. There are several department stores: John Lewis, Selfridges (which is across from the Bond Street tube station), and Liberty to name a few. Some of the stores you can find in the area are: Massimo Dutti, Reiss, Zara, Gap, H&M, Benetton, Hawes and Curtis, Pink, Niketown, Adidas, Church's, Mamas & Papas... I think the best parts of the Oxford Circus are actually the side streets. First since you can move around more freely and away from the huge crowds, and second because there are some nice, unique shops there, like on New Bond Street where there are many watch and jewelry shops and men's suits stores, as well as plenty of cute little cafes and restaurants along pedestrian walkways and tucked away from the hubbub. Most shops open 10am until 6 or 7pm. Some open Sunday 12 to 6pm with late nights on Thursday. Plenty of buses go through the area, check out the London Transportation website for routes to move around easier: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/

Shellys shoes are fab. They do gorgeous heels, wedges, pumps, courts, boots, sandals.. Lots of different colours, materials and prints. I've got loads of loads of them (well, actually only 7 pairs).
Although high heels are sexy, pretty and all that, I don't wear heels anymore because a) I find them totally unpractical b) they ruin my back c) I'm tall enough anyway (I'm 5'9), so most of my shoes are boots and pumps.
Depends on what you're after. Check their website before going. They also do special discounts at times.
