Penhaligons: Smell as nice as Prince Charles' armpits...

    Smelly place....

Penhalligans is probably the most respected perfumiers in the world. You can find branches and concessions in such places as Rodeo drive in Beverly hill and in most of the Saks stores in the US.

There are several London Branches, mainly as concessions in the big department store, but also as stand-alone shops in the Burlington Arcade and in Wellington Street, just off Covent Garden to name a couple.

I actually quite like the relaxed atmosphere in the Covent Garden branch, and was also interested to see that they put the framed Royal warrant from the Prince of Wales on the inside wall of the shop.

Nice place, but I'll think I'll stick to to a good scrub behind the ears with carbolic soap twice a week to keep me shipshape, call be old fashioned, but I can't be doing with all this poncy male grooming - it can make you fancy women called 'Camilla'.

What to buy: It's all branded with 'Penhaligon's' on it,

Luxury shopping: Away from the chain stores

    Davies Street

Oxford Street, Regenst Street, and Totenham Court Road have many shops that you will find in many cities. To find some more exclusive (therefore expensive) shops head towards New Bond Street and Davies Street.

What to buy: All local and international designer clothes

What to pay: Quite a lot!

    Piccadilly Arcade: Small specialist shops

    Piccadilly Arcade

Despite sky-high rents and competition from the big chains there are still a lot of small, independent, specialist shops in London.
This small arcade contains a variety of small shops and is far nicer to walk around than a huge store or shopping mall.

    What to buy: Anything

What to pay: A bit more than normal high street prices.

    Small street - big prices

New Bond Street has many of the big names in world fashion and is a good place to come for a window shop or for celebrity spotting.

What to buy: Best to look and not buy unless your budget is unlimited.

    HARRODS: Jewellery and luxury goods

    Inside Harrods

Harrods is one of the most famous Department Stores in London, but it is also so expensive!
If you want a souvenir from London, I suggest therefore you buy it elsewhere.
