 | London Sports Travel | Tips 1 - 10 of 207 | | Popular Sports Travel | Miscellaneous Sports Travel Tips | All Tips (207) We were lucky enough to get Wimbledon tickets for one day during the 2004 championships. It was always one of those things that I hoped to do whilst living in London, and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was fantastic, and although we did not have tickets to Centre Court, we had front row, base line tickets on Court 1. We saw mens & womens doubles quarter finals, and were excited to see Martina Navratilova win her doubles game.
To get the tickets we had to enter a ballot, via the wimbledon website. Entries had to be submitted before the end of 2003. We were sent a letter with details of the day and seats that had been selected for us, and then we could decide if we wanted to buy the tickets, which of course we did!! Between November and the end of January there are several places to ice skate in London - but make sure you book first as this is a very popular activity! There are temporary rinks at Somerset House, The Natural History Museum, Cardinal Place Victoria Street, Greenwich, Kew Gardens amongst others. Tickets are timed and cost around £10 per hour. At Somerset House there are NO reductions for bringing your own skates.
Boots are provided but bring your own if you have them. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Several locations throughout LondonWebsite: http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/ice_skating_london_index.html

This looks like a seaside shot of some canoeists just about to go out. Well it's actually the bank of the Thames. Not your normal sporting tip for London, but I can imagine paddling a canoe along the Thames past all the sites must be quite enjoyable way to spend a weekend morning. Take care for those Police speedboats that bomb up and down the Thames though! Little craft like canoes get rather buffeted by the wake of larger craft, especially from ones gaoing fast.
I guess you'd have to join a club or bring your own canoe. Leave a Comment Theme: Kayaking/Canoeing
