We saw the changing of the guard at noon. Many people were standing outside the gate eagerly awaiting the ritual. Go and check it out!

Buckingham Palace: We knocked but nobody answered
We went to see old Queenie but she must have had her discman in becasue no matter how hard we knocked nobody answered the gate. Maybe she thought we were mormons.

Buckingham Palace: The Queen is in Residence
When you see the flag at full mast, that means the Queen is in residence. She didn't come out and wave at us outside or anything.

However, we got the chance to watch the changing of the guards at 11.30hr

In the summer, the palace organises special exhibitions that display the royal jewellery collection and other memorabilias of the queen. This year (2006), it was the the largest ever exhibition of Her Majesty’s evening dresses and personal jewellery to commemorate her 80th birthday. I didn't have enough time to see it, and the queue to get into the exhibition was so long

Why not drop in for a cuppa tea with the Queen whilst there? I am sure she would offer you some cucumber sanwiches if you drop by during high tea.

With our groups we always stand back from Buckingham so we can see the horses and guards coming from both directions with the marching ones and going to the palace around 10 in the morning. They say right at the palace gate-you see nothing happen.

Wow....since I was a little girl I wanted to see were Princess Diana lived. I mean....jeez, once every girl around the world that saw the wedding stopped watching they started dreaming of marrying their own prince (still dreaming today....My daughter wants to marry Prince William). I can still picture the day with Charles and Diana on the balcony waving ....her looking ever so happy. Ahh, but I regress.

I was lucky enough the first time I visited the Palace to see the Queen arrive. (I probably looked every bit the part of the dumb tourist that day....waving and jumping up and down camera in hand!) Awe-struck.....! This year was different. Didn't hang out waiting for the Queen or anyone else...just strolled around soaking up the scenery, the atmosphere, the beauty of architecture and nature alike. I enjoyed this year better.

I did not take the tour but the views from the outside for each little girl that saw that moment on TV is worth it....well, it is free to look from the outside.

You should plan to go early or you will not be able to see anything. The place packs up pretty quickly. You can have a good view at the gates, by the roadside or by the Queen Victoria monument. Get there around 9:45 am by 10am, before the place starts to fill up. By 10:20 it is packed and the guard ceremony doesn't take place until 11AM

You're always hearing about Britain's royalty. Now go and take a close look at their residence. Try to cath the changing of the guard.
